Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We're based in Cannock Wood, Rugeley, Staffordshire, easily accessible by road and well-signposted from the main routes. Full directions and a map are provided with your booking confirmation.
What ages do you cater for?
We welcome visitors of all ages. Activities are tailored to suit different age groups and abilities. Some activities have minimum age requirements for safety reasons.
Do activities run in bad weather?
Most activities run in all weather conditions — we believe there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing! We have indoor alternatives available for severe weather. Activities are only cancelled if conditions pose a genuine safety risk.
What should we bring?
We provide all technical equipment. Participants should bring weather-appropriate clothing, spare clothes, a water bottle, and any personal medication. Full kit lists are sent with booking confirmations and are available to download above.
How do I make a booking?
Complete our online enquiry form or call us. We'll check availability, send you a quote, and once you're happy, confirm your booking with a deposit.
What deposit is required?
We require a 25% deposit to secure your booking, with the balance due 4 weeks before your visit. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque, or invoice for schools and organisations.
Are your staff qualified?
Yes — all instructors hold relevant National Governing Body qualifications or internal sign offs, first aid certificates, and enhanced DBS checks. We maintain the highest safety standards and are AALA licensed.
What if someone can't swim?
Non-swimmers can participate in water activities — we provide buoyancy aids and activities take place in shallow water or with safety boats present. Please inform us in advance of any non-swimmers.
Can activities be adapted for disabilities?
Absolutely — we're experienced in adapting activities for various physical and learning disabilities. Contact us to discuss specific requirements so we can plan the most appropriate programme.
What about dietary requirements?
We cater for all dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies, and religious requirements. Please inform us of all dietary needs when booking.
Can we self-cater?
Yes — self-catering kitchens are available in some buildings. This is popular with Scout groups who want to practise camp cooking. Full catering packages are also available.
Do you provide risk assessments?
Yes — comprehensive risk assessments for all activities are provided when you book. We also supply pre-visit information to help you complete your own risk assessment.
What curriculum links do activities have?
Activities link to PE, Geography, Science, PSHE, and more. We can provide curriculum mapping documents and learning outcomes for your planning on request.
Can we visit the site before booking?
Definitely — we encourage pre-visit inspections. Contact us to arrange a site visit and see the facilities first-hand.
Do teachers and leaders need to participate in activities?
Teachers and leaders don't need to participate in activities, though many choose to. We do require adequate pastoral supervision ratios from your group, particularly during evening and overnight periods.
