Climbing Wall
Challenge yourself on our purpose-built climbing wall
About Climbing Wall
Our purpose-built climbing wall offers a range of routes to suit all abilities. It's a brilliant confidence builder and a great introduction to the world of climbing. All sessions are fully supervised by qualified instructors.
Session Details
Key Features
The wall features multiple routes graded from introductory to challenging, making it genuinely inclusive for mixed-ability groups where participants can each work at their own level. Every participant is fitted with a full harness and benefits from an instructor-operated belay throughout their climbs. Coaches provide active technique guidance covering stance, footwork, route reading, and grip, so participants improve noticeably across the session. The physical benefits include upper body strength, core stability, balance, and flexibility, while the mental challenge of managing a fear of height and pushing through difficulty makes this one of our most powerful personal development activities.
Badge and Programme Links
The Climbing Wall delivers one of the clearest badge pathways on the programme. Scouts work directly towards the Scouts Climber Activity Badge, whose confirmed requirements specify climbing on "artificial walls of grade 4+/5," supervised and evaluated by an experienced climber — exactly what the Beaudesert session provides. Explorers progress to the Explorers Climber Activity Badge, requiring single-pitch climbing on a man-made wall. Girlguiding members of all sections from Rainbows upwards earn the Height Adventure Badge, which covers all activities where participants leave the ground. Climbing is explicitly named as a qualifying DofE Physical section activity, with the DofE website specifically referencing "scaling climbing walls" as an example. Schools deliver the KS3 and KS4 PE requirement to "tackle complex and demanding physical activities" and meet the outdoor adventurous activities standard. The mental challenge of committing to the next hold — and getting there — builds a resilience that transfers to every other area of life.

Our instructors work through strict internal training and sign-off with some holding NGB qualifications.
Why should you book with us?
The climbing wall delivers one of the clearest and most visible moments of personal triumph available in our programme. Watching a nervous participant reach the top of the wall and realise what they have just achieved is genuinely powerful — and it happens in every single session.
All sessions are led by experienced, qualified instructors who understand how to work with groups of all ages and abilities. You can also hire our facilities and run this activity yourself with your own equipment and the relevant NGB qualification for a reduced cost.
