As you make your way up the tall, purpose‑built tree trunks, you’ll rely on balance, coordination, and a growing sense of confidence. Each step higher brings a mix of excitement and achievement, encouraging you to stay focused and trust your abilities. Whether you reach the top or simply climb further than you expected, this activity builds resilience, courage, and a brilliant sense of accomplishment in the great outdoors.
Session Details
Key Features
Unlike a standard artificial climbing wall, Monkey Trees places participants high in the canopy of real trees within Beaudesert's woodland, creating a heightened sense of genuine outdoor adventure. All participants wear full harnesses with overhead belay throughout every element of the activity. The session develops grip strength, core stability, agility, and confidence at height in a way that feels genuinely wild and explorative rather than controlled and artificial. Multiple height options allow participants to set their own personal challenge level, and the woodland setting creates a natural connection between physical challenge and the outdoor environment.
Badge and Programme Links
Monkey Trees brings tree climbing back to its instinctive, joyful roots — but with safety systems and genuine challenge. As a height-based climbing activity, it sits within the Scouts Climber Activity Badge activity family and earns Girlguiding members the Height Adventure Badge across all sections. Schools deliver KS2–KS4 PE physical challenge and outdoor adventurous activities outcomes. It also develops spatial awareness, upper-body strength and proprioception — but what participants will actually remember is the freedom and thrill of being high in the canopy, testing their grip and their nerve, and surprising themselves with what they're capable of.
Activity Information
The activity is delivered under a comprehensive Site Operating Procedure, our instructors work through strict internal training and sign-off with some holding NGB qualifications.s. All equipment meets EN standards and is regularly inspected by specialist contractors.
