Crate Stacking
Work together, stay steady, and see how high you can climb.
About Crate Stacking
Crate Stacking is all about teamwork, trust, and pushing your limits one crate at a time. As you build your tower beneath you, you’ll learn how to stay balanced, stay focused, and rely on the support of your team. Every crate added brings a mix of excitement and challenge — and the higher you climb, the bigger the sense of achievement. Whether you reach the top or simply go higher than you expected, this activity is a brilliant way to grow confidence and celebrate progress step by step.

Key Features
Every climber wears a full harness with an overhead belay system throughout, while the ground team takes on the critical role of steadying the tower and supporting the climber with verbal guidance. Groups naturally compete to beat the record height, which generates enormous energy and engagement. The activity is highly effective at developing verbal communication, trust, balance, and physical coordination simultaneously. Instructors can facilitate a structured debrief focusing on teamwork and communication themes for groups where that learning outcome is a priority, making this activity as suitable for team development purposes as it is for pure adventure.
Badge and Programme Links
Crate Stacking earns its place among the most badge-relevant activities on site. The Scouts Climber Activity Badge requirements page explicitly states that "climbing-like activities, such as crate stacking or high ropes" satisfy the badge's alternative pathway. The Girlguiding Height Adventure Badge page explicitly names crate stacking as an example activity for Brownies earning the badge. That's a confirmed badge pathway for both organisations in a single session. DofE participants can count it as part of their Physical section with regular practice. Schools deliver the OAA teamwork and physical challenge requirements across KS2–KS4 PE. The ground crew supporting the climber are doing just as much work — communication, encouragement and reading the situation — making this one of the best activities on the programme for developing genuine team dynamics.
Activity Information
The activity is delivered using purpose-designed harness and belay systems, with instructors working through strict internal training and sign-off with some holding NGB qualifications.. All equipment is regularly inspected and maintained to EN standards.
Why should you book with us?
Crate Stacking produces the loudest moments of any activity we run. The collective excitement as a tower reaches a new height — and the supportive chaos when it topples — creates a shared experience that genuinely strengthens group bonds in a way that is very hard to manufacture in any other setting.
All sessions are led by experienced, qualified instructors who understand how to work with groups of all ages and abilities.
