All the bullseyes. None of the splinters.
About Soft Axe Throwing
Want the satisfying thrill of hitting a bullseye without the heavy, sharp steel? Soft Axe Throwing brings all the competitive fun of traditional axe throwing into a completely safe, family-friendly environment. Using specially designed plastic axes and safety darts, you can channel your inner lumberjack with total peace of mind. Leave the brute strength at the door. Soft axe throwing isn't about power; it's all about precision, focus, and a little bit of friendly rivalry. It’s the perfect, low-pressure way to try out one of the fastest-growing target sports.
Session Details
Key Features
Foam axes are used throughout, providing the same technical challenge and satisfaction as standard axe throwing without any sharp edges or impact risk. Full technique instruction is provided covering grip, stance, throwing arc, and release timing, and the session is accessible from age six with no upper age ceiling — making it ideal for mixed-age family or community groups. Progressive target challenges develop accuracy and consistency across the session, and competitive scoring and team formats can be introduced. The activity complements Soft Archery and Mini Crossbows well within a multi-activity target sports programme.
Badge and Programme Links
All of the focus, satisfaction and excitement of axe throwing — in a format accessible to every age group from Rainbows upwards. Girlguiding members earn the Sport Adventure Badge through the equipment-based, rule-driven target sport. Schools deliver KS1–KS4 PE physical challenge and precision sport content. The developmental benefits are identical to standard axe throwing: patience, self-regulation, technique and the particular joy of watching accuracy improve in real time. Soft axe throwing is also one of the most confidence-building activities on the programme for younger or more anxious participants — the lower-stakes format lets them engage fully and discover they're better than they expected.

Why should you book with us?
Soft Axe Throwing opens up one of our most exciting activities to a much wider audience. The moment when a foam axe spins through the air and lands flat on the target with that satisfying thwack is equally thrilling for a six-year-old as it is for an adult. Great outdoor activity has no age limit, and this is a perfect example of that.
All sessions are led by experienced, qualified instructors who understand how to work with groups of all ages and abilities.
