Session Details
Key Features
All sessions take place on a dedicated supervised shooting range with strict safety protocols in place before, during, and after the activity. A thorough safety briefing and equipment orientation is delivered before any shooting begins, and participants then receive technique coaching covering stance, breathing control, sight picture, and trigger management. Progressive target challenges allow participants to track and improve their own accuracy across the session, and scoring formats can be introduced for group competition and individual improvement tracking. The session develops concentration, patience, self-control, and fine motor precision — qualities that many participants discover in themselves for the first time.
Badge and Programme Links
Air rifle shooting has a direct, clean badge pathway in Scouting. The Scouts Master at Arms Activity Badge covers archery, fencing and shooting as named options — and crucially, the badge page confirms that completing the NSRA Youth Proficiency Scheme in Air Rifle automatically earns the badge. The Beaudesert session is the ideal starting point for any Scout pursuing this route. Girlguiding members earn the Sport Adventure Badge — covering any activity involving equipment, rules and skill. Air rifle shooting also qualifies as a DofE Physical section activity with sustained practice and personal improvement. Beyond the badge, the session develops something rarely taught in school: genuine concentration, breath control, mental stillness and the discipline to wait for the right moment — skills with applications far beyond the range.
Activity Information
Air rifle target shooting is governed by the National Small-bore Rifle Association (NSRA). All Beaudesert shooting sessions operate under approved range conditions. Instructors are qualified in shooting range supervision and operation, and all air rifles are correctly zeroed and maintained to manufacturer specifications.
Why should you book with us?
Air Rifles is the activity that most surprises group leaders — it is consistently the session where the quietest members of a group discover a natural talent and suddenly light up. The discipline required creates a completely different dynamic to more physical activities, and the satisfaction of consistently hitting a target is deeply and durably motivating.
Just So You Know
